To The Moon: Prepare your Feels™

To The Moon: Prepare your Feels™ thats what the game should be named. Why? Because it HITS you right in the feels. Actually, this is THE first game that makes me crying.. actually not crying, just.. sad(big lies).
Anyway, I finished the game twice but in the second ending I still got a teardrop from my eye ;_;
It's not so often I find games that impresses me or SURPRISES me at the second time, but this one is different. I really got myself into the well-driven story of the game. I don't care about people mocking me i'm a pussy for being sad because of a game. I really DON'T care! Those sons of *****es doesn't know how's it look like, when you play a game and you're really getting yourself into the game, you'll know it. No matter how tough you are, you will still took a LOT of hits in the feels. Actually, every games that I've played, I always pretending and getting myself into the game, to gain the atmosphere, to love the game itself, and to give myself my own experience.
Okay, enough chit-chat, I'm here to review the game anyway, so.. let's just start.

First things first, this game is made by Freebird Games, you may not so-familiar with this name, its an indie you know, the creator of The Mirror Lied and two others which I don't know the name c:
One thing you should know about this dev, Freebird Games always make sure their customers are satisfied with their game's story a.k.a. a great story-maker. Their games always good in story aspects, its perfect for gamers who doesn't have the graphics to bother them, because this game are made using RPG Maker XP, which gives the player a classic-themed looking graphics. Well thats should get you the point, the story of the game is so Amazing, Stunning, Jaw-dropping, Impressing, Well-driven, and.. what else? I dunno, its just PERFECT.
The controls are basically the same as the other small RPGs made by RPG Maker over the internet. You can use mouse as a navigating and look around and also interacting with things. Or, you can use your keyboard(in case your mouse has been eaten by your cat.. wait, what? nvm) to play instead.

What about the gameplay? the gameplay mechanics of this game is pretty simple, you just have to look around, searching for mementos(some kinda objective to finish a part of the memory), and then travel to the other's memory, its like playing god, you can change the fate of the man, but only in his memories, not in the real life, like some kind of suggestions or something like that.
So far, the only flaws I found in the game is its graphics, its not a big deal though, but I surely hope there'll be a remake of this game with HD version, but thats okay, as long as I can read the text, and understand everything's inside the game, its fine for me.
Oh, and one more thing, Kan R. Gao are really good at making the player got themselves into the game, he put a background music that matches the situation of the game currently running. That's really impressive. By the way, if you're getting this game on steam, I recommend you to get the one with the original soundtrack of the game, because its REALLY worth it.
A collaboration of a lady singer Laura Shigihara and a great instrument player Kan R. Gao really got myself deep-down into the game.

Well, I think that's all, and I hope you enjoyed it.
Happy gaming! :D

State Of Decay: GTA with Zombies

Zombie Apocalypse? meh. There's a LOT of zombie games, either it was a survival, killing, or even be the zombie itself. But this game, it really brings a fresh idea on the terms "zombie apocalypse".
The name is State Of Decay, a sandbox a.k.a. open world games covered by flesh-eating monsters or zombies as we know it.
The first time I played this game I feels like, it would be like the other zombie themed games, but I was wrong, instead of just shooting the zombies, this game really delivers a new taste of survival and a feeling of insecure, or something like that (i don't know how to describe it XD).

Okay, so the feature I loved the most was its "open-world" feature. The game really makes me feels like I'm inside the game. Looking for a safehouse and fortify it for my protection, etc.
Even more, I have to think about myself and my group. We need supplies and resources to survive this hell-hole, so the only way to acquire it isn't go to the local liquor store and buy something, it's a zombie apocalypse, the world as you know it was gone, so you gonna have some STEALING. Not to rob a bank of course, but to scavenge what was left from buildings and towns nearby. This is what makes me really really amazed, this is my first time experienced my own Zombieland movie. So I picked up my crowbar, reload my revolver, head outside, and grab something worth while chopping the zombies' heads off. It was pretty COOL!

Yeah, you can't find this kind of feeling when you play most zombie games over the internet. But this one is really fresh, well-made, and adorable. It makes you SICK. Just imagine it, you have this car plenty of fuel and ready to go, while theres a tons of zombies crawling on the streets holding your way, and theres an idea in your head(crazy idea), you RAN over them and get the hell outta there. So that's it, you hit the pedal, and start running them over one-by-one, and you thought, "those stupid zombies are dumb". That's an art of gameplay right? you gotta love what you do, and do what you love, so as long as you're entertained and enjoyed the game, you'll love it. xD

Enough of this, I have to finish this review now 'cause I wanna take a bath(yeah, thats true).
So that was the gameplay, how about the other features? The survival feeling and objectives really looks like a real life situation where you have to find a food cache in the supermarket when your stock is empty. And there's another too, you may find any other survivor in the town or in the forest or wherever they are. In that case, you'll be given a choice either ask them to join your group or just leave them behind. I just can't describe how great the gameplay aspect was, but trust me, it's AMAZING. If you ever played DayZ, you got the point.

Next, we do not care too much about graphics right? well, graphics is adorable, good-looking, and some kind of stunning. But we don't really care about graphics, so I skip this aspect to the story. The story of SoD is based on what you have done and what choices you made. If you choose to acquire some supplies without any help from others, you will earn some kind of Influence or respect as we know it. This Influence thing is works like a money, if you ran out of ammo and need some from the supply crate, you need Influence to actually BUY the ammo you need. This Influence is some kind of respect from the other survivor in your group, you can earn it by collecting supplies, helping peoples, clearing out the Infestations, etc. So far, I've played the game about 8-12 hours, and I found no conclusion or ending in the game, it just about survival everyday, its like an endless game.

So that's it, I've done this review at last! Now I can go take a bath.. xD
Happy gaming! :D

DOTA 2: First Impressions

G4m3rFr34k is beyond GODLIKE. Someone KILL HIM!!!!!

Who doesn't know the epic, jaw-dropping moba DotA 2?
Almost every creature in the known universe knows DotA 2 (maybe i'm a bit too overreacting here xP).

Defense of the Ancients a.k.a. DotA is known for its fun, uniquely created moba gameplay. It's been known by the Gaming society all around the world thanks to IceFrog, the founder of the game.

The first DotA game was just a map mod for Warcraft III. So in order to play the game, you need to own Warcraft III (of course, *sigh). Since the release, the mod had received a plenty of positive reactions over gamers widely, and IceFrog keep updating the game by delivering new heroes, game modes, items, abilities, etc. And that's how a single mod became such a big title as we know now, DotA.
Later, the well-known developer and publisher of the legendary Half-Life franchise, Valve teaming up with IceFrog to make a sequel of DotA, known as DotA 2.
And this is where we start to discuss about this epic game.

At first, DotA 2 entered a beta phase where only a few selected(or can be considered lucky) players can play the game by using DotA 2 Beta key. And now, the beta is over and the game can be downloaded for free via steam here.
Next, we'll talk about the features inside the game.

The first aspect is Gameplay, the gameplay of DotA 2 is exactly the same as the first installment. But there's a minor changes made in DotA 2, such as all-in-one shop(so the players won't have to move from a shop to another, just press F4 and the catalogue will show up instantly), matchmaking, party, etc. Other than that, the core gameplay doesn't change to make sure the first DotA players can play DotA 2 easily.

The second aspect is the interface, this is where the major changes occured in DotA 2. Valve really change a LOT of this aspect from its predecessor, a huge modification from main menu, to in-game HUD really makes a brand-new DotA style. The main menu is quiet simple and minimalist. The in-game HUD is easy to understand (but sometimes it's a bit confusing for DotA 1 players). The graphics is also a brand new, it makes the game more adorable, immersive, and addicting.

And last, is the controls, the controls of DotA 2 really shaped up a bit easier and accessible, espicially for begineers. Also, the hardcore one can find no problem playing the game.

So, I'm listing some of the key features while I play the game(I only play the game about 30 hours). Here are some key features I get from the game :

  • Everything is exactly the same as DotA 1, except for shops, buildings, skins, heroes, and environments.
  • The game's graphics changes significantly from DotA 1.
  • The game's mechanics are same as DotA 1.
  • The new game's interface looks really cool and easier to understand.
That's it guys, I hope you enjoyed my review. And.. happy gaming! :D

Edit: Here's the screenshots of an early game in both Dota 1 and 2, for comparison (Ctrl+LeftClick to gain a better view) :
